Alert Communications has just launched a new portal for the Malta Maritime Authority – www.mma.gov.mt The Malta Maritime Authority supervises the organisation of the primary maritime services in Malta. The main aim of the Authority is to render the administration, services and operations of ports and yachting centres more efficient and cost-effective, marketing Malta as a world maritime centre and attracting more cruise liner traffic to the island. In order to achieve these aims, MMA needed a strong online presence. The Authority commissioned Alert Communications to develop an interactive portal which presents a wide range of information in an attractive manner. The resulting website uses a range of tools to assist navigation through the site. The main element on the homepage is a Flash animation that guides users to detailed information pages about Yachting & Marinas, Ship Registration or Ports. In addition a system of quick links was implemented to facilitate navigation. The MMA website is powered by the Alert Web Publisher, a powerful content management system that allows the Authority’s personnel to update content in the site without having to request support from a technical web development team. This ensures that the News, MMA Notices and the Berthing Schedule are always kept up to date, increasing the value of the content in the site.
