Alert Communications launches new MEPA site	15/10/2009
The Malta Environmental and Planning Authority has launched a new website – www.mepa.org.mt. The site was designed and developed by Alert Communications Ltd whose main remit was to create a portal which empowered its users to easily access the wealth of information in the site. Using the latest technologies for web design and the latest style trends, the MEPA site has now been given a fresh look. This is a very complex site with various applications and pages of information, so making it all easily accessible was a challenging job for the Alert team. After various workshops with MEPA staff, Alert Communications came up with a fresh, uncluttered design. An improved user experience was achieved through the creation of easy-to-use and intuitive menus, better use of space on the homepage and a multitude of navigational aids placed on the site, making it much easier for users to find and access the information they require. The MEPA portal is powered by an advanced content management system - the Alert Web Publisher. This software makes it easy for MEPA staff to update all the pages in the site, adding new content when required and deleting obsolete pages. Other add-on modules have also been integrated to the Alert Web Publisher to help MEPA staff to update the site, for example a News Manager was deployed, enabling MEPA PR personnel to easily upload daily news items and display this information in a chronological manner, complete with a thumbnail picture for every news item.
