When assessing Alert’s performance in its sector the EBA team also looked at the company’s social responsibility, in particular in relation to customers, staff and the community in general. “To us it is not only the bottom line that matters. We also take into consideration whether our clients are satisfied with our services and the level of contentment of our staff. It is a source of great pride to us that we have an excellent client retention rate and very low staff turnover. It indicates that we are doing something right,” explained Cassar. “Our people stay with us because we are committed to their development and believe passionately in work/life balance. Alert is very family-oriented, offering flexitime, reduced hours and job sharing. Furthermore Alert is one of the few private companies in Malta that allows new mothers to take up to 30 weeks of maternity leave, as opposed to 14 weeks as stipulated by law.” “In addition we believe that it is important that we give something back to the community.
