Alert has launched a new website for Arriva, the new Maltese bus operators, to support the introduction of its services to Maltese public.

The new site features a route planner tool that helps passengers search for the best bus-route to their destination, as well as a number of other innovative features including: on-line ticketing, automatic calculation of the time of the journey, interactive map of routes.

Earlier this year, Arriva commissioned Alert to design and build the front and back end of their website.  An important part of the brief was to create a user friendly experience that simplified the search of the complex timetables & routes.

Arriva will start operating bus services in Malta and Gozo, under a 10-year contract to Transport Malta, on 3 July 2011.   As a part of the transport reform, Arriva has created a new bus network that covers more than 23 million route kilometres per year.  It is a complex network with many minor variations on routes.   Powered by Alert Web Publisher, the website www.arriva.com.mt designed by Alert, is visually attractive, easy to use, and it advises passengers on the best available travel itineraries.  A map is integrated within the solution, showing the routes with their availability.
